  • Authored a stock-take paper on domestic revenue mobilization (DRM) in Nigeria to consolidate the knowledge base on DRM by the World Bank and other development partners.
  • Identified political constrains to taxation reform and formulated a politically-feasible strategy aimed at generating support for taxation reform from public sector officials and civil society.

The International Labour Organization (ILO) is a United Nations agency dealing with labor issues, particularly international labor standards, social protection, and work opportunities for all. The ILO has 187 member states, of which 186 are UN member states, and works with representatives of the government, employer organizations, and labor organizations of those states to achieve the objective of decent work across the globe.
  • Advised ILO Regional Director on political and economic developments impacting ILO's mandate in the Arab States through research, technical, analytical, or policy notes delivered on an ad hoc basis.
  • Conducted technical analysis on the formulation of ILO's medium to long-term strategy in the Arab States tailored to accommodate political and economic developments in the region.
  • Analyzed data on 120+ ILO projects between 2010-2017 to identify deficiencies in budget allocation and thematic coverage among the 12 Arab States. Analysis utilized to guide the budget and programmatic allocation of ILO projects in the region in the 2017/2018 biennium.

Jordan Strategy Forum (JSF), a non-profit organization,aims to bring together private sector corporations with decision makers who are concerned and interested in supporting Jordan’s long term economic development. JSF achieves its goals through the development and wide distribution of objective, principled economic research and policy studies.

  • Co-authored an investment policy for the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan as a component of the Kingdom's 10-year economic blueprint (Jordan Vision 2025); policy designed to sustain 6% annual real GDP growth over 10 years and generate 900,000+ jobs by 2025. Responsibilities included:
    • Modeling the impact of the policy prescription on the Jordanian economy, 
    • Recommending reforms to several pillars impacting the investment environment, and 
    • Conducting focus group sessions with stakeholders to solicit feedback on the policy prescription.
  • Devised the "Jordan Investor Confidence Index": a monthly indicator that quantifies the confidence of investors operating in Jordan through a novel mathematical model that infers confidence from cyclical volatility in indicators directly linked to investment choices.
  • Performed quantitative and qualitative impact analysis on amendments and proposals to economic legislation such as the income tax law, the investment law, and the public-private partnership law. The analysis was utilized by the Economic Committee of the Jordanian Parliament and the Minister of Finance in their negotiations and decision-making process regarding the content of such legislation.   
  • Advised the Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Supply with regards to their negotiations in revising the FTA between Jordan and the EU and a prospective FTA with Mexico.
  • Managerial roles include supervising two analysts and an intern and assuming the Acting-CEO role during the CEO's absence.
  • Promoted twice from Analyst to Director in 18 months.

  • Hosted Ed Lotterman for a campus wide talk on the role of economic policy in the 2012 US Presidential Elections.
  • Organized a talk on the macroeconomic policy framework of the International Monetary Fund. The society hosted a prominent economist who presented his research to an audience of economics students and faculty.
  • Arranged a trip for the Society to volunteer at "Feed My Starving Children".
  • Led a session for underclassmen to assist them with inquiries about the economics major at Macalester and prospective career paths.
2. Macalester's Middle Eastern Student Association, Sep 2010 - May 2011

  • Established an organizational structure to facilitate event organization and communication between governing members.
  • Led the association to organize events that focused on Middle Eastern culture and politics.
  • Organized a series of campus discussions dubbed "Beyond Belly Dancers, Billionaires, and Bombers" aimed at highlighting the issues that ignited the Arab Spring. These discussions culminated in a panel discussion on this topic between students and professors of relevant subjects.
  • The association received the Macalester Civil Discourse and Collaboration Awards in lieu of its impact on campus.
